Why Saturdays Exist
After waking up in a freezing bedroom (fall has, well, fallen), saying goodbye to my husband (who works way too much) , and reading in bed for a while, I ventured downstairs to a kitchen that looked like Tokyo after Godzilla vs. Ghidora–dishes everywhere, cupboards and drawers open, trash all over and desperately needing removal from the house. (All I needed to complete the picture was the monster corpse from Kat’s desk.) Welcome to Saturday morning!
A couple of hours later with dishes done, death traps to my head eliminated, and clothes in the washing machine, I ventured out for a relaxing trip to the public library, where I ran into a Bosnian friend from school, who always tests my pathetic Croatian language skills. (If I had wanted to continue having tests on Saturdays, I wouldn’t have stopped attending Northwestern University’s “Saturday school” when I was 5.) Actually, it is kind of nice to have someone to practice Croatian with, and I even did a bit better than last time she caught me. According to her, I have a very “cute” accent when speaking Croatian. She says the Croatians will love it. I, on the other hand, hope to eliminate that accent during language school at the University of Zagreb someday soon.
Satisfied with my test results and library selections, I headed home, enjoying the beautiful weather on the way. Laundry almost done, it’s reading and relaxing for the rest of the day–something I haven’t done in a very long time.
Going to the Dogs
Today June and I spent the afternoon at the new dog park here in town. Although she seemed intimidated by all of the dogs there, June eventually joined them and played a little—a very little. And though she demonstrated her parchedness by slobbering all over the place, she wouldn’t even drink from the common doggie dish. Oh well. We have an antisocial dog. Regardless, we met pit bulls, French bulldogs, a giant schnauzer, and several mutts while getting mud all over the “people swing” and my shoes. Ah, what a little time with man’s best friend (times 20) will do.
Moving Is Traumatic
But I like WordPress so much!
I almost moved bjerktree months ago, and after playing with WordPress a bit in the meantime, I have decided that it is much more functional and provides many more options. It’s a bit more complicated to operate than Blogger was, but the benefits are worth the complication.
Thanks for putting up with the move. I know the bright green is gone, but . . . oh, well.
